StolenThe cast metal sign, which welcomes people into the village from Bempton Lane, has been stolen! The sign was one of a pair that was placed on the side of each road into the village by Flamborough Community Environmental Action Group. The sign went missing at the beginning of October 2003 and so far has not been returned.

The one on the Bridlington Road side of the village has been left un-touched. The signs cost £160.00 each and were paid for by charitable donations.

Chairman of Flamborough Community Environmental Action Group, Sharon Mummery, said: "The screws holding the sign on have been sawn through and the sign pinched. When I saw it I couldn't believe it. I thought that's not right, something is missing, and I was just gobsmacked."

Would anyone who knows the whereabouts of the sign please return it please? Alternatively, anyone who knows anything about the stolen sign should contact Bridlington police. The picture shows the missing sign.

... UPDATE ... UPDATE ... UPDATE ... UPDATE ...

A new sign has now been purchased, which has cost over £160.00. It will be fitted in the near future by members of the Flamborough Community Environmental Action Group. Please, whoever you are, do not steal this one - they are very expensive to replace!
